Report Model – Deploy Semantic Models manually?

I tried the deployment manually on the report server (use the Upload File link), and got the following error:
"The DataSourceView is missing for the SemanticModel. SemanticModel must have exactly one DataSourceView element. (MissingDataSourceView)".

After some googling, I decided to use the Deploy command from the BIDS. This fixed the above error.

See the thread here to see how you can paste the entire data source view xml file into the report model’s smdl (also in xml format) file, if you want to use the Upload File link on the report server.

You need to take the whole contents of the data source view (*.dsv) xml file and put it into the model file exactly after the ‘Entities’ node, ie, just before the closing tag of semantic model.”
